Nov 11, 2018 - Points are not placed at polyline vertices that fall outside the surface boundary. Because this command creates points using elevations from a. Creates points along a line, feature line, lot line, or arc at a specified distance from an end point. Click near the end point from which you want to measure the distance and enter a distance to specify the location for the created point along the object. • Select settings and create styles, layers, point groups, and description keys. • Home tab Create Ground Data panel Points menu Create Points - Miscellaneous Along Line/Curve. • Select a line, lot line, feature line, or arc. The end point nearest to the point you selected is highlighted. • Enter the distance from the end point. • If prompted, enter the point name, description, and elevation. • Optionally, do one of the following: • Enter another distance from the start point of the selected object and follow the prompts as previously described. • Press Enter, select another object, and follow the prompts as previously described. • Press Enter twice to end the command. I see those settings but when I use the 'divide object' tool it doesn't read the elevation instead giving me 0, if I use the place 'on line' or 'automatic' tool it reads the elevation but only puts points at the start and end of the line, if I use place 'along' line tool it lets me put in an increment of 10 ft but doesn't continue on down the line without me continually putting in a distance (20 ft, 30 ft, etc.). I still am looking for the tool that automatically runs down the line putting a point every 10 ft at the same elevation. I hope I am explaining my problem clearly, if not let me know and I'll elaborate further. You could use the AutoCad MEASURE command to place Acad points along the line, then convert those points to Civil3dPoints. Wrote in message news:[email protected]. Scratch my previous message, it's Saturday and I wasn't thinking clearly.although it would work, the built-in commands will do it better & easier. The Create Points-Measure Object will do this. Set the Point defaults to be Automatic for Elevation & Description, None for the Name, and the Elevation & description to that which you desire. I did this for points @ 25' intervals with an elevation of 101.0. It took all of 20 seconds to setup and create the points. Now, if you want to get the elevation for the point from the object (which is not what you've said) then there's the Interpolate Points, By Incremental Distance. As long as the point numbers are consecutive, which they should be, you can use the Panorama and change all points to your elevation of choice in approximately 1/2 of a jiffy.
